Philip Bardowell was born in Kingston, Jamaica W.I., and raised in southern California, and by the age of twelve, he taught himself how to play guitar and formed his first band. At age 20, Philip worked on the road backing the Surf music genre duo, Jan and Dean as their bassist and backup vocalist. Consequently, Mike Love of The Beach Boys, hired Philip to serve as lead guitarist and vocalist in his Endless Summer Beach Band. In 1993, Philip teamed up with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley of KISS fronting Peter’s band “CRISS” as lead singer and rhythm guitarist.
It was after serving this role for two years that Philip discovered that he felt a void just singing and playing music for the sole purpose of entertainment and began attending Saddleback Church in Orange County, CA in search of a new purpose for his life. After a while, he was asked to audition for the praise team, and by the grace of God, he was asked to join the praise team and began serving regularly as a vocalist and musician. This led to his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. “I came to Christ by worshipping Him through song. He entered my heart through my praise and worship of Him and my life was changed forever. Philip had found a new passion in serving The Lord, but continued in his career as a professional musician.
Sister Freda Robinson
In one of the poorest communities in the Rift Valley of Kenya, Sister Freda Robinson has created a health oasis: a hospital and outpatient care center. The people who come to Sister Freda for help have very few options…Oftentimes they cannot find or afford transport to the Kitale District Hospital. And if they find a way to get there, they are introduced to the painfully broken Kenya healthcare system where there are 4 patients to a bed, very few diagnostic tools, doctors and nurses on strike…and seemingly no one to walk with you towards recovery.
RBO has partnered closely with Sister Freda’s Hospital for over 20 years; years before any electricity or lights, or a single source of water was available. We have seen thousands of babies delivered that would not have survived a troubled delivery, in a mud home, by untrained hands.
Your gifts to Freda’s work go directly to providing needed medication, tools for surgery and cleanliness, and keeping the surgical unit and the newborn clinic going.

At the age of 18, Danny Duchene sat in a California county jail cell, coming out of an intense withdrawal from a heavy addiction to alcohol and marijuana. He had been arrested for participating in a crime that resulted in the killing of two men, and now faced a double life sentence.
“Once I became sober, the full weight of my crimes and what I had done came crashing down on my conscience,” Duchene, now 52, recently told a crowd at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. “It was at my lowest point that God’s mercy showed up in my life.”
After two decades of participating in prison ministries, with scopes ranging from drama to leadership, Duchene heard of the “40 Days of Purpose” curriculum, which walks participants through Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life. In 2003, he contacted Warren, who not only provided the curriculum to Duchene, but also led a service at the state prison where Duchene’s study took place. That night, 100 men converted, and a church was born inside the prison’s walls.
But Warren didn’t just help Duchene with his ministry; he also wrote a letter to the prison’s parole board pleading for his release. In December 2014, that plea was granted. Duchene now oversees Saddleback’s inmate ministry, which has 900 programs currently running in more than 100 prisons nationwide and has distributed hundreds of thousands of books and study guides.
